If I Won the Lottery

Everyone speculates about what they would do if they were to win the lottery. In fact, I spend a lot of time planning out a life where work is not a necessity and mortgages, rent, and bills are not a problem.

I like to imagine that I get the winning ticket and just disappear with my boyfriend. We collect our money and go on a road trip searching for the perfect house for us. Then other times, I think I would just buy a whole neighborhood. We would buy all the houses on the row and rent them out to our closest friends at a price that won’t make them go bankrupt but we can still pay the property taxes at the end of the year and for any new appliances they may need, etc.

Either way I know that I would live a carefree life, where I don’t worry about bills in any way so I can do whatever I want. I can travel all over the world, quit my job, quit school (or keep going just for fun). I could open up my own photo studio or just spend the rest of my life blogging! I could hire a maid who would do all the cleaning so I never have to do a load of laundry or wash a dish again in my life.

Oh, how much easier and happier life would be if I won the lottery. But me and my boyfriend both agree, that we wouldn’t try to live like millionaires. It’s a surefire way to get caught. Then your friends and not so close family will forever be bugging you for loans and expecting you to pay for everything. And our neighbors would know and we would most likely be robbed.

No, I think it is best that you buy a simple house with a garage and large backyard because we are a little selfish that way. I would keep going to school to become a teacher but I could take as long as I wanted and then I could do absolutely whatever I wanted on the summers and winters. I could have an extra photo company on the side, or open up that coffee/tea/baked goods/used bookstore shop I always wanted when I was younger.

And now that I have spent my time planning the design of my future house, the designs of my future businesses, and my improbable financial situation, all I need is a time machine so I can get those winning numbers…
